Francis Says Cuba is a "Symbol" -- Of What?

Pope Francis and his love for Cuba

Pope Francis called Cuba "a symbol" in an interview. A symbol? But for what? This question was asked by John Horvat, the vice-chairman of Tradition, Family, Private Property in the USA.

On July 12, Pope Francis gave an interview to Televisa Univision's streaming service ViX. "The Pope's remarks have caused consternation among the people suffering in this communist island prison."

Francis said:

"I love the Cuban people very much. I also confess that I have a human relationship with Raúl Castro."

Raúl Castro, Fidel Castro's brother, was his successor until 2018 as head of state and government of Cuba and until 2021 as chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC).

According to John Horvat, this is like saying that the Pope "loves the inmates of this prison but gets along well with the prison director who is responsible for their suffering."

To add to the confusion, the Pope called Cuba a "symbol" and a country with "a great history." But what is Cuba "a symbol" of or for, and what "great story" does Francis mean? It could not be the brutal communist dictatorship of the past 63 years.

"The remarks come just over a year after the largest anti-government protests the country has seen in decades to demand liberation from communism. The protests were so fierce that many thought the end of the regime might be in sight. However, the communist regime brutally suppressed the peaceful demonstrations. Many protesters were arbitrarily arrested, tortured and sentenced to draconian prison terms. The Vatican and the West let this anniversary pass uncommented."

In the meantime, the misery continues, and it shows "how indifferent the West is to the suffering of Cuba."

The recent outbreak of dengue fever revealed shortages, supply shortages, poor organization, and a precarious public health situation, even though Cuba boasts of making entire medical trains available to foreign states. Patients must bring their own bedding if they need to go to the hospital.

"Many hospitals lack running water and basic supplies. There is a shortage of medicines that are readily available in any pharmacy in other countries. The lack of fuel affects the emergency services when transporting patients. The situation is exacerbated by the power outages lasting several hours per day. The authorities blame a 'power generation deficit', which means that several power plants do not work because, like most of the country's other infrastructure, they are not maintained or repaired. Chronic food shortages and civil unrest also contribute to the disaster."

Cuba, according to John Horvat, is "clearly a country in distress and in need of help." Although this precarious state of affairs has lasted for decades, Horvat said, "the communist rulers insist that the country does not need help."

"Even worse, liberation theologians and Western leftists call Cuba a model, even a paradise, for the world. They spread the myth that Cuba has one of the best health systems in the world. Meanwhile, the population is dying because of the shortcomings of the health care system."

The supposedly generous awarding of medical trains to foreign countries initially says nothing about their quality, but above all even less about the quality of the Cuban health care system. On the contrary, it rather reveals its precarious condition, because only through the loan to foreign countries do these doctors receive a regular wage. The situation is comparable to absolutist monarchies in the early modern period, which leased troops abroad in order to gain revenue for the state coffers and thus ensure the salary for the soldiers, which they themselves could hardly have paid.

"Cuba is indeed a symbol," Horvat said. "On the one hand, it symbolizes the continuation of communist tyranny, misery and brutality. Moreover, for the West, it is a painful symbol of its own indifference and hypocrisy. And those who are still resisting in Cuba are a symbol of Christian courage and perseverance that anticipates the day when they will be free to write the 'great story' that awaits them."

"Theological Hypothesis of a Heretical Pope" -- Help in the Current Church Crisis

Edit: unless anyone knows any differently, this isn't available in English that we've seen, although the TFP offers a treatise in English by Arnaldo Xavier da Silveira.

by Cristina Siccardi

The 1975 published book "Hypothèse théologique d'un Pape hérétique" (Theological hypothesis of a heretical pope) by the Brazilian jurist Arnaldo Vidigal Xavier da Silveira, founder of the publisher Veracruz, then as now an excellent contribution to contemporary theology, as well as a valid answer to the dilemmas that arise because of the doctrinal scandals of the current pontificate in various Catholic circles. The book was then published in several languages. Recently the publisher Solfanello put a new edition of the book out in Italian. A German translation has appeared even after more than 40 years, a hitherto unfulfilled desideratum for the German reader.

Anarchy and civil war prevail in the Church from the high hierarchy to laymen: discord, tension, little spirituality, worldliness, escalating prolixity, anger, general and widespread unease, confusion, chaos, unrest, and all fueled by a pope, who today leads many to argue that he stands in the reek of heresy. Of Heretical statements the Pope has offered  in the exercise of his Petrine office in three years, there are several.

It is sufficient to deal with the desolate Apostolic Letter Amoris laetitia or with the statements made by the Pope himself in his recent flying press conference on his return from his visit to Armenia, so even the most unsophisticated faithful will realize that the current pope has created a break with the everlasting Magisterium of the Church. And the souls are no longer protected, neither from sin nor  disorder, nor the abyss of evil.

When asked for joint commemoration with the Lutherans on the occasion of 500 years of Protestant Reformation the Pope explained:

"I believe that the intentions of Luther were not wrong. He was a reformer. Perhaps some methods were not right, but at that time [...] the Church was not was a worthwhile model: there was corruption, worldliness, attachment to money and power. Therefore, he  protested. He was intelligent and took a step forward and justified why he did it. And today we as Protestants and Catholics agree about the doctrine of justification on this very important point, he was not wrong. He made a medicine for the Church, then he consolidated this medicine, into a discipline, making it into a way, to believe. "

Does Francis employ mercy with the faithful?

Cristina Siccardi

What does Francis, in the current Holy Year mercy, for the frightened and suffering soul on account of his remarks, these statements that attack the heart of Catholic doctrine, which undermine the divine wealth of ecclesiastical tradition and endanger the peace, which is of greater value than the peace between peoples?

In 1975 Arnaldo Vidigal Xavier da Silveira published, given the Church crisis that had matured with the Second Vatican Council and the liturgical revolution of the Novus Ordo, in French a study that has now been presented again in an Italian edition with a foreword by the historian Roberto de Mattei ,

Since its first publication, 40 years have passed. "While on the subject of the new liturgy there flourished a discrete literature, the question of a heretical pope, with few exceptions, began to draw the attention of theologians and pastors only after the resignation of Benedict XVI. and the election of Pope Francis," de Mattei (p.6).

The current pontificate has created numerous theological positions

During the current pontificate numerous theological positions have formed, and it remains difficult, if not impossible, to give the one in preference to another, as long as the authority of the Church does not make a statement, of what will happen once it once the current torrent has been overcome and with the help of theologians who have remained in orthodoxy and  heretical doctrines and  practices have been withdrawn.

Preserving the needed balance and at the same time to exercising due Catholic prudence is not for everyone. In this way,  the textually clear and dense essay "L'occupant du Saint-Siège de Rome est-il aujourd'hui réellement Pape?" is offered by the theologian Father Jean-Michel Gleize in Courrier de Rome, which appeared in February. In it he lists the different attitudes and theories as to the validity of the Petrine title of Francis.

Paper discusses discussion on to a higher level

Professor Xavier da Silveira's book accesses not only the thesis of  Saint Cardinal Robert Bellarmine, one of the leading advocates of papal supremacy, the possibility of a heretical pope, he also examines the possibility of a schismatic or dubious Pope and the possibility of errors and heresies in documents of the Magisterium and in Council documents.

How are those who continue to follow Our Lord Jesus Christ to behave in such a case? Xavier da Silveira writes:

"The Church teaches that  the Catholic who is aware of a bad decision of ecclesiastical authority is not only allowed to refuse consent to this decision, but also to oppose it publicly in some extreme cases. Moreover, opposition in certain situations may eve be applied to  normal duty "(p 141).
The "theological hypothesis of a heretical pope" can be seen as an important building block that fits into the current theological discussion. But it is also an instrument to raise this necessary discussion on a more upscale level than what is now offered in sometimes inappropriate and even impossible newspaper, web and blog articles, whose trivialized arguments of  things of the utmost importance and sacredness are thrown in the dirt, and the heretical and barbaric style is reflected in a worthy Pope for this perverse generation.

In Memoriam of Fabia Bernabei: Counterrevolutionary

Edit: we never knew him, but his work was extremely important to this blog, especially his continuing the work of Roberto de Mattei. Here's the obituary from Messa in Latino.

In memoriam of Fabio Bernabei

In memoriam (see in Italian HERE and HERE ) of a close friend who died prematurely. Cultured and faithful lover of Tradition. Scholar of the damage of drug use and dangers of sodomy (see HERE how he is  remembered by aberrosexual militants)

RIP and let us remember in our prayers.

by Guido Vignelli

Fabio-Bernabei Saturday, May 28, 2016 died Fabio Bernabei. Born in Rome on 1 November 1963, his untimely death is due to the return of a bone tumor which had struck him when he was just 16 years, from which he was soon cured, but it has taken decades after it and struck down 52 years of age.

Journalist and essayist, who trained at the school of counter-revolutionary prof. Plinio Corrêa de Oliveira, he was promoter of many initiatives and battles in defense of Christian civilization, especially as a founding member of the Association of Family Tomorrow and Cultural Center Lepanto, of which he became president in 2006, succeeding Professor Roberto de Mattei.

Fabio Bernabei was known for his documented and passionate denunciations of the promoters of moral dissolution and policy, especially drug trafficking, of aberrosexualism and "Christianophobia". His campaigns had win him numerous attacks by the Transnational Radical Party and in particular Emma Bonino.

Fabio Bernabei was Director of the online magazine OsservatorioDroga.it, corresponding anti-drug international journal Narkotikafigan, Italian delegate of the National Rapresentative for European Cities Against Drugs (ECAD, Stockholm) and the Drug Watch International (DWI, Washington), and a consultant of the Policies Department of National Drug Control at the Italian Government. For his denunciation of the "drug culture", he had received Dublin's prestigious "International Veronica Guerin Award" in the category of freelance journalist.

Among his books, we remember those dedicated to refuting the drug ideology: Modern History of Drugs, I Libri del Borghese, Roma, 2010; Medical Cannabis?, Sugarco, Milan 2012; but also against militant aberrosexuality: Church and Homosexuality, Faith & Culture, Verona in 2009, and the one against the Western anti-Christian policies: Christianophobia. What Freedom of Apostolate for Catholics Today?, Solfanelli, Chieti 2010 (proceedings of a conference in Rome organized by him).

With the untimely death of Fabio Bernabei, he joins those other brave friends like Mario Palmaro, Enzo Peserico, Brutus Maria Bruti. We invite our readers to remember in their prayers and to recall in their hearts those other voices, that despite their health problems, have always been involved with sacrifice and courage for the holy Catholic cause. Requiescat in pace.

The TFP Processing Against Abortion and Aberrosexualism Attacked by Mob

He pressed them very much to turn in unto him: and when they were come into his house, he made them a feast, and baked unleavened bread and they ate: But before they went to bed, the men of the city beset the house both young and old, all the people together. And they called Lot, and said to him: Where are the men that came in to thee at night? bring them out hither that we may know them. [Genesis 19: 9,10]

Edit: this appeared recently on the  LifeSiteNews, which is nice. The Traditionalist TFP (Tradition Family and Private Property) members stoutly marched through the streets of Curitiba to protest the sin of abortion and aberrosexuality in the state of Parana where they were greeted mostly by friendly, well-wishing people of the town. This abruptly ended as they were attacked by a vulgar crowd of tolerant Leftists who shouted obscenities and spat on them while inciting violence. One of the brave TFP members was struck by an object at one point and had to go to the hopistal.

This video is in Portuguese, but features highlights of the march.  From LifeSiteNews:

Videos of the harassment were filmed by the perpetrators themselves, and two of them found their way onto the blog of Milton Alves, a former communist who is now a member of the socialist Worker's Party that currently holds power at the federal level in Brazil.  Alves acknowledged his presence and expressed his support for the counter-protesters, stating, "I was there and I saw everything. I'm on the side of democracy and against the TFP."

TFP Defends Marriage in Minnesota

Edit: The Society for Tradition, Family and Private Property has been campaigning fervently for the truth in Minnesota and has found a lot of support in various places, whether at the State Capital, the Suburbs or in one of the more troubled neighborhoods of St. Paul. They are surely doing good for the Archdiocese and helping the Archbishop get this timely and vital message to the public.

Way to go guys. Here's a video showing their work which is clearly not without its dangers. Be sure you go to their website and offer some support.

Will Payal Become Gaypal?

Edit:  Lifesite and TFP are under threat from asymmetrical threats.  Hey, you must be doing something right.  When will they stop the hate?

The pro-homosexual activist group “All Out” launched a petition asking PayPal to “put hate out of business” by closing the accounts of pro-family organizations, including the American TFP. Apparently, traditional marriage between one man and one woman is now being deemed “hateful” by those who wish to redefine God-ordained marriage.

“All Out” claims to have collected 35,000 signatures, many of which are from foreign countries. View the petition here.

TFP Marches in Defense of Marriage Rally in Da Bronx

Editor: The TFP was invited to help at the Defense of Marriage March in the Bronx, New York by Senator Diaz.  There were many Cristeros present and the numbers were swelled somewhere between five to ten thousand.  Naturally, the decadent media ignored the presence of the Society for Tradition, Family and Private Property.

Don't be afraid. Stand up and tell the truth about marriage and listen to Mr. Brown.  They've told kindergarten children that their parents are bigots for believing marriage is between a man and a woman, closed down Christian adoption agencies and threatened those who oppose them.  In any event, someone should tell Mr. Brown that the problems were intensified by the Civil Rights Movement, but it was a moving speech all the same, but they need to understand that some of the principles they embrace actually undermine their positive support for marriage.

Movie Legion that Mocks the Faith and Leads to Despair

It's a familiar theme brought to us by the perennial adolescents of hollywood, rebel bad-boy saves the human race inspite of the efforts of all the people with hang-ups who really bring everyone down with morals.

The movie itself is poorly done, and is practically a caricature of the idea that evil can be good. Ayn Rand in one of her rare moments of insight explained that evil is in the world because it can be portrayed as a good. It's along those lines that Hollywood media types have been working for as long as films have been made, to present the outsider, Prometheus, as the savior of mankind. It's a captivating and persuasive theme, but I can't imagine many people seeing this movie, which is really only a remake of flop Prophesy.

Tradition Family and Private Property

Sony offended millions of Americans with its blasphemous film, The Da Vinci Code. Now it is set to do the same with the movie, Legion and that’s why The American TFP is asking its members to protest this latest blasphemy.

Online Petition, here.
